About our team criteria for graduation
As we explained in the text about basic criteria for graduation, many schools and teams use efficiency as the only essential element to assess the evolution of their students.
At the other extreme, some teachers and teams make exams for awarding the belts and take into account opinions about the students' off-tatami behavior.
In our case, although we take into account the criterion of efficiency, that is, the ability of a student to regularly finish his classmates of the same weight and age level and put those in the immediately higher belt in trouble, we also take into account other three fundamental areas to assess the evolution and graduate our students.
First of all students should fulfill the technical requirements that we have developed for each grade in the case of white and for accesing to the other coloured belts.
Secondly, they should have been training continously. Attending to at least 20 classes between graduations.
In this sense we consider it more positive for the evolution of a student attending a weekly class than coming to five classes a week for a month and then stopping training for two months.
Thirdly, the student's attitude on and off the tatami. In this sense, we greatly value the studen to show respect and care for teammates and concern for the health and achievements of others.
Finally, we also take into account the attitude of our students outside the tatami because we consider that they are all on the path to being instructors and teachers one day, and that it will be in their hands to teach other people a very powerful tool that should not be used for wrong purposes.
